The COVID-19 pandemic had shut down the entire world. Even the entertainment industry was shut down. All the movies and TV shows were delayed.
Recently, few relaxations were announced by all the Governments around the world. The entertainment industry returned to their sets to resume shooting. The entertainment industry decided to follow all the safety protocols. Despite that, the COVID-19 cases have penetrated the safe bio bubbles. The latest movie to bear that brunt is The Batman movie. The lead actor Robert Pattinson tested positive for coronavirus.
The filming for The Batman movie had resumed recently after six months delay. Initially, the filming had begun in Glasgow before shutting down due to the outbreak of the pandemic.
The studio responsible for the movie, Warner Bros. also confirmed the filming has been temporarily paused. The studio did not confirm about who tested positive but they released a statement saying that a member of the production team had tested positive for COVID-19 and was self-isolating according to the established protocols.
The British actor testing positive was confirmed by the Vanity Fair. This happened when the movie had resumed shooting near London.
The Batman movie was slated to release in June 2021, but now it is postponed to October 2021 if everything goes well.
In the latest film, the Twilight star, Robert Pattinson plays the Gotham City protector and superhero, Bruce Wayne aka The Batman following the footsteps of Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, George Clooney, Val Kilmer and Michael Keaton. The movie is being directed by Matt Reeves and the movie not part of the DCEU but it is separate its entity.
The movie also notable stars in iconic characters Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, Collin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton aka The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone.
Initially, the movie was supposed to be the continuation of the events of Batman v Superman and Justice League and Ben Affleck as Batman. Everything changed due to creative differences and Matt Reeves took over the project. Affleck was replaced by Pattinson confirming the news of the movie being a separate entity.
Matt Reeves in an interview said that the story focuses on Batman as a detective and a vigilante rather than an action superhero. He further said that the story set in the time frame of Batman Year Two. This news sent the fans of DC comics to a frenzy as the Batman debuted as the detective in the comics and is also called as ‘The World’s Greatest Detective’.
In the recent DC Fandom, the DC Films President confirmed that the movie was not part of DCEU, but in a different multiverse. The trailer was released on the same occasion and it received good response from the fans.
The filming has stopped right now and only three months of shooting is left. The filming is expected to finish by the end of 2020.
