What we don’t need anymore is another pandemic when we are already battling with one. The beginning of the year 2020 saw something that the generation right now will member for years. While the fight was still on, the world was introduced to new diseases leaving us petrified with no immediate solution whatsoever.
Here’s listing all those terrifying diseases the world witnessed in 2020.
COVID 19
COVID 19 from the Coronavirus family appears more vulnerable to people with pre-existing medical conditions like heart issues, diabetes, high blood pressure, weak lungs, and weak kidney. Depending on the health conditions of a human body and age factor, the symptoms are mild to acute. It is a respiratory illness that spreads from person to person when an infected person comes in contact.
While the exact information about how the disease developed or how the first person was infected is still a mystery to the world, the total number of active cases by August 2020 was recorded as 19,567,720.
Swine Flu
The beginning of June 2020 saw new swine flu strains in pigs in China. It is said that the behavior of this flue also has the potential to spread in humans. Well, whether this can cause another pandemic can be known only when it becomes a pandemic. What is more worrying is the fact that China has the largest population of pigs and Chinese moves are not to be believed on any grounds.
Bubonic Plague
In July 2020, a city in Inner Mongolia under Chinese influence reported cases of Bubonic Plague. This disease is caused by bacteria that transmit through flea bites and animals infected by the plague. Some of the known symptoms are swollen lymph nodes, pain, coughing, and fever. Back then when it was first discovered in the mid-1300s it approximately killed 50 million people in Europe.
Tick-Borne Virus
The known 3 viruses were not enough for humankind when in August 2020, China wanted the world to know about the new tick-borne virus. By the beginning of August, the virus had killed 7 and infected approximately 60 in China, fairly a good number alarming the health authorities of the country. The common symptoms identified in the patients was fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS). Now whether this one too is on a roll to become a pandemic is yet to be been seen.
These were a few diseases that have the full potential to turn into a pandemic if not attended on time. Apart from these, there may be many others on their way to hit the doors of countries still struggling to get back to normal.
Just the news of a disease coming from China in itself is an alarm. What is more worrying is the fact that by the time the world finds out about it, the disease makes it moves to leave the world figuring out how to tackle it.
